The AGBU Los Angeles Choir was formed in November 2018 by the AGBU Western District, to inspire the community through quality Armenian music and the pursuit of artistic excellence in choral music performances. The choir is conducted by the distinguished Maestro Gayane Baghdasaryan, who has over thirty years of dedicated training and experience conducting various choirs. In its short existence, the choir already has more than 25 members. The choir’s debut performance was in January 2019 for the AGBU Western District’s A Classical Evening in Honor of Arno Babajanyan.
Meet Maestro Gayane Baghdasaryan
Baghdasaryan graduated from Komitas State Conservatory of Yerevan with a Ph.D/D.M.A in choral conducting under the guidance of esteemed professor Hekekyan. Shortly after completing her program, Baghdasaryan began her career in 1998 as a professor in choral conducting until 2014. Baghdasaryan has served as the choir master of multiple notable groups including, the Armenian State Radio and TV Chamber Choir, Arega Youth Choir, and Sayat Nova Conservatory Choir. Baghdasaryan has embarked on international tours in Denmark, France, Russia, Georgia, Syria Egypt, and Cyprus. After moving to the states, Baghdasaryan has continued her work as a conductor and was invited to be the Maestro of the AGBU Los Angeles Choir.
