GENNEXT MENTORSHIP PROGRAM
AGBU Generation Next was established in 1998 to help the youth through a one-to-one mentoring program for high school students. GenNext aims to create healthy communities by bringing together Armenian teenagers and caring adult volunteer mentors who can serve as guides through the difficult journey of adolescence.
BECOME A MENTEE
Our Mentees are unequivocally the most important component of this program. They inspire and motivate us to continue to do the work that we do on a daily basis. Mentees are actively engaged in developmental activities that increase their self-confidence, foster a deeper understanding of their culture, heritage, and history, and spark interest and curiosity in higher education and possible careers.
The program helps mentees to:
- Develop their untapped potential
- Learn from an inspirational and experienced Mentor
- Gain confidence and new skills that will assist them throughout their life journey
- Encourage them to share and consider their goals and dreams
- Help them realize what needs to be achieved to meet these goals and fulfill these dreams
BECOME A MENTOR. CHANGE A LIFE.
Want to change a life today? Becoming a GenNext Mentor is one of the most rewarding things you will ever do, and the guidance and friendship that you will provide our Mentees is invaluable.
No special skills or background are needed to be a Mentor and we offer training and ongoing support throughout the year. All Mentors attend a training session prior to being matched with a Mentee and special workshops are offered by professional psychologists, educators, and youth workers to help with particular circumstances.
After School Program
In 2018, during its 20th Anniversary, GenNext expanded its services by establishing an after school program at the YWCA in the City of Glendale. The after school program serves both middle school and high school students.
